Summary
Q I HAVE a six-yearold Cairn Terrier who seems to want food all the time. Every time we eat he yaps for something. Our vet said he is just a greedy dog. Any Advice?
BARTON replies: He certainly does sound greedy! It may be purely a behavioural issue in that he has trained you to feed him when he yaps, however, there are also several possible medical reasons for this change in his appetite and other symptoms like excessive drinking, diarrhoea and weight loss will develop. Try to ignore him when he yaps to train him that his fussing does not get rewarded with food. Distract him while you are eating with something like a hidden chew.See the full content of this document
