FRUIT machines will pay out big cash prizes twice as often in a Government-backed gamble to boost the faltering economy.
Ministers are to change the law to make it easier for punters to win pounds 500 jackpots by raising the maximum stake for each bet from pounds 1 to pounds 2. It will improve the odds of punters winning the pounds 500 top prize from 5,000-1 to 2,500-1. The number of times machines pay out smaller prizes will increase, too.
